Our day was all about organising education for the boys. Brandon starts prep next year while Bailey starts kindergarten in 2013. Now while that may seem like a long way away, one thing I've realised from living in a big city is that when it comes to schooling with kids you have to be organised and be on waiting lists. If you're not organised, the kids miss out or get stuck with second best.
The 2 boys and I travelled off to kindergarten. Bailey decided that he wanted to do every single jigsaw puzzle possible at kindergarten. That took us 50 minutes. Then the 2 of us went to investigate another kindergarten a lot closer to our home. I hadn't even put Brandon's name down at this kindergarten because there were hundreds of other kids ahead of him on the waiting list, and the administrator pretty much said we stood no chance. When Bailey and I were there this morning I rang the admin man to check where we stood and he said that we were the 91st applicant for 88 spots. That's not too bad because there are always people who have changed their minds or found an alternative position. So we paid our $25 deposit with the application form and then drove on.
Our next stop was the big school for Brandon to attend next year. We have 2 schools that I am checking out. The first one looked great. I put Brandon's name down and he was the 84th applicant. They can't turn us away from the school because we are in the catchment area but it's still good to have his name down. Bailey and I then headed home. Bailey slept soundly for several hours while I did many a thing. Once Bailey woke we headed outside on his insistence where he had some lunch. I scooped him up and we went to pick up beautiful Brandon. My husband was working very late this evening on the 2 display homes so I took the kids to their swimming lessons. They both did so incredibly well. I am still blown away by Bailey. He swims about 3 metres now on his own. He also loves counting to 6. He says it loud and fast. Hes' been counting to 6 now for several days, and because he can see how incredibly excited my husband and myself get when he does it, he does it regularly. He's so cute.
Once I'd managed to get the 2 boys dry and dressed from the pool we headed home to be greeted by daddy cooking their dinner. Hooray! I got pyjamas and beds ready for their bedtime and then came back to the boy's table to try and encourage them to eat. It's a hard task. An even harder task is getting Bailey to brush his teeth. It turns into a nightmare every single night.
For the rest of the day I was playing phone tag with the principal of a new school. We had been interested to find out a lot more about this new school but after talking to the principal today she couldn't confirm that Bailey would be accepted into the school because we are out of the catchment area. I'm not having the 2 boys go to different schools. That's just crazy. Anyway I think that we have come up with the answers to the 2 boy's schooling. Let's hope so anyway.
