Happy Birthday Bailey!

Bailey celebrated his 2nd Birthday today. I can't believe that 2 years ago I had just given birth to him. I remember fighting tooth and nail with the nurses to let me go home soon after Bailey was born. They made me wait 12 hours from giving birth before they would let me go. I knew Bailey was fine. I hadn't had any drugs or pain medication so I knew what I was doing. I remember the next morning at home though, the after birth pains were like being in labour again. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Now that I have reminisced I'll recollect what the 2 boys and I did today. Another extremely hot day so we headed into the big shopping centre to buy a birthday card and some wrapping paper for Bailey. We were having a little party to celebrate his birthday once daddy came home from work. So we managed to get our few things but no matter where we went we could not find a train cake tin. Yes I was going to attempt to make Bailey a train cake. I didn't feel that the exorbitant prices charged for a kids cake were right. I was confident in my ability to make a professional looking cake. Surely. Let's just say that by the end of my cake making experience I will now always be happy to pay an exorbitant price for a kids cake. The only place we could find a train cake tin was funnily enough at a cake shop out of the major shopping centre. I had rung ahead and they had put one aside for me. The cake shop was tiny and with the 2 boys the experience was like taking 2 bulls into a postage stamp size china shop. Not a good combination. We were only hiring the train cake tin for 24 hours and it was costing me a grand total of $5.00. Pretty confident I'd get my money's worth.

At this stage we headed home principally to begin the task of birthday cake baking, but also to cool down. It was a very hot day. Bailey had a sleep so that left a very sick Brandon (he woke up with a cold) and I to bake and then wrap the presents. The cake was meant to be upright with 2 parts of the train joined together with icing or cream. As it turned out we had 2 cakes. There was no way possible that I was able to connect the 2 parts together. The cake just crumbled. So Brandon and I smothered the cakes in icing and hoped that somehow it would all stay together. Once Bailey awoke and everyone was fed, the 2 boys and I headed up to the local supermarket to buy some lollies that would make our train cakes look more like trains and less like blobs.

Finally daddy came home and the party begun. We had a Thomas themed party and therefore a Thomas The Tank Engine themed present list. Now little Bailey's life has even more trains and more train tracks in it. Which corresponds to mummy and daddy finding more and more trains in funny and strange places. So far the best 2 places we have discovered trains are in the fridge and in our ensuite cabinets. All fun and games. The birthday cake was delicious. Everyone except the birthday boy loved it. Bailey was too busy setting up train tracks and playing with his toys. I forgot to mention that I also bought Bailey a special little boys Toy Story scooter. It  has only taken me 1 month since Christmas to forget the trauma of putting together kids bikes because I had to assemble the #$#^*#! scooter. Needless to say I WILL NOT EVER do it again. Someone talk sense to me next time.

The boys are now asleep, as is daddy. I hope that Bailey has a fantastic time being 2. I can't wait to see what he discovers over the year and how much he'll grow. I want to thank you my little man for being such a lovely little boy who's life I am a part of. I love you very much. I love the happiness that oozes out of you. I love your smile and I love your wonderful hugs. I love it when you always say "Mum. Mum. Mum" I look forward to sharing many adventures with you over the coming year. Happy Birthday sweetheart.
