Why is it that kids always need to urgently go to the toilet when you're out and right in the middle of doing something? Or should I rephrase the question to- Why do kids never need to go to the toilet when you ask them, but yet 2 minutes later they must go straight away because they are busting? Crazy!
After many hours of playing with Lego this morning, we did finally arrive at the shops where the 2 boys and I did many, many things and walked many, many kilometres before heading up to the Supermarket to do our weekly shop. Half way around the Supermarket, with a considerable amount of cold food already in the trolley, Brandon so very confidently told me he REALLY needed to go to the toilet. I scooped up Bailey from the shopping trolley, instructed him to hold on to me really well, threw the day bag back over my shoulder, grabbed Brandon's hand, found a lady and informed her we were making a dash for the toilet and that we would be back, and then we ran.
Fortunately for all concerned, Brandon made it. The things that you do. I don't think I'll need to exercise now for about a week. We eventually made it back to our shopping trolley that was so casually waiting for us. On our way back to the Supermarket, the big group of elderly people that had laughed hysterically at us some 10 minutes ago as we ran past them, were somewhat quieter on our return.
While at the shops the 2 boys managed to express nearly every single human emotion known. We had laughter and tears and then Bailey had a tantrum. I think that he made up for not having one on Tuesday. Again everyone in the shops looked to see what was happening to this poor child. Why was he simply making so much noise? The answer: he wanted a Thomas The Tank Engine DVD from the bookshop and I just didn't have the money for it because when Bailey wants something Brandon also wants something. I simply hadn't budgeted for 2 DVDs. We eventually got the bookshop lady to put them aside for us for when we would call back later (presuming that I could find some money from somewhere!).
Let's just say that the 2 boys are very lucky to have a daddy that can materialise money from nowhere to buy something they want. So the boys spent the afternoon taking turns watching their new DVDs. At one stage while I was working, I simply forgot that the 2 boys were at home with daddy. They were that unbelievably quiet.
Again the bedtime routine continues. The constant factors are that a huge amount of food will be consumed, thousands of books will get read, and the boys will attempt to convince daddy and I that it really isn't time for bed. But it sure is for me.x
