Brandon is so incredibly head strong and stubborn and while that is an admirable trait, it's also very frustrating when I'm constantly butting heads with him.. Brandon has to be first. Brandon has to be the leader. Brandon does not need any help whatsoever. Brandon has no patience with himself nor with anybody else. Everything has to be done right now. It's all good because it means he takes no rubbish from anyone but it is hard work trying to negotiate or compromise with him.
Brandon said to me today as I was quietly having a drink of water in the kitchen."You're so crazy. What's gotten into you today mum?" After I spat my water out from all my laughter, I just pointed at him. He smiled knowing full well that he was being cheeky. It's funny hearing your words being echoed back at you. Even though it feels like everyday the boys don't listen to me, when Brandon goes and repeats my words, it makes me realise that they do actually listen. Could have fooled me. They disguise it well.
So our day began with 9am swimming lessons. I have just changed them again to Friday because Tuesday lessons just weren't working. Brandon was way too tired by 4:30pm for his lesson. Although Bailey wasn't in the mood for his lesson today. He held on to me so tightly. He didn't and wouldn't let go of me. Nor would he put his head under the water. He also would not let go of anything that was given to him- like a pool noodle, a waterfall cup, a toy. It just didn't work for him and therefore for me so we jumped out of the pool a bit early where he proceeded to scream by the edge of the pool. Needless to say, it took me a bit longer to get both boys dressed and fed. But I eventually did it.
As a result we went straight home. Everyone was fed, watered, dressed, and cranky and it was only 10:30am. I thought everyone needed a change of scenery so out we went. We ventured to Kmart to collect a lay by-just thousands of towels for work. Of course we looked at every aisle of the toy section. I have some good ideas now for presents for Brandon's birthday next Wednesday, mostly rotating around Ben 10 toys and Transformers.
From Kmart we came home. Everyone was wide awake. In fact Bailey always takes great pleasure in pretending to be asleep. He thinks it is hilarious when I quietly whisper for Brandon to stop talking (impossible feat upon its self) so that Bailey can sleep. They didn't. Inside we came to play with play dough. Lots of fun was had by all. Daddy was stuck in traffic as there were accidents galore on the way home. I had to move my client back to a later time. So I spent the afternoon working while daddy and the 2 boys stuck together inside because of the torrential rain outside.
Both boys are now quietly sleeping. I am sitting here recovering from Brandon's constant talk and his extreme desire to be first at everything. He is such a lovely boy and I can't wait to see what he ends up doing in his life. We'll have to stay tuned.
