Yummy Yum Yum!

Today was all about strawberries. Actually it was all about strawberries and mud. Another day and another 4 sets of clothes per child. No wonder all I do at 11pm at night is wash. Anyway, this story is to recount our adventures for the day, not for me to divulge my washing routine. The sun was shining and it looked like it was going to be a fantastic day. After 2 loads of washing, the 2 boys and I went off to pick strawberries at the nearby strawberry farm. We have been there several times before and we always have a great time. The 3 of us seem to be in our little heavens. Fields of beautiful ripe strawberries all waiting to be lovingly picked by gentle hands. And then we crash through and surely must flatten half of the farm. What more can I say except we found mud. From there we created strawberries in mud, shoes in mud, which progressed to bare feet in mud, then moved on to bums in mud. And yes you guessed it-2 boys and i in mud.

And so we paid for our strawberries and were given the mud for free. When I wake up every morning I just know that somewhere, sometime, someone will end up in mud, so I just happened to have several sets of spare clothes.

I didn't even bother asking if anyone was going to have a daytime sleep as we drove home, instead we sang.

We stopped briefly at home to again re-fuel. I didn't have any thing planned for the afternoon so when I asked Brandon what he'd like to do he responded "I want to throw cordial up to the roof". What do you say to that.? I just laughed. Obviously it wasn't going to be a unanimous decision for our afternoon activities so we (I) decided we should go swimming at the local swimming pool.

The 2 boys and I had heaps of fun. I appeared calm and in control while dealing with 2 small boys in the water and when Brandon decided to scare the crap out of me by sinking, I still appeared calm for his sake.  Eventually my 2 little fish and I were moved out of the heated pool by other kids swimming lessons. We went out to the water play area and the boys continued playing.

Surely by now the moon had to be high up in the sky and kids would be getting tired, so we went back home. And what did we do as soon as we walked in the front door? We all walked straight out the back door to keep playing. And there we stayed for another hour- swinging, digging, climbing, sliding, throwing, demanding, singing, starving and dreaming of being on a tropical island. (Well actually the last 2 were just me!)

I am still yet to discover how tired kids actually have to be before they just go to sleep without question.

Off I go now to wash a whole lot of mud off a whole lot of clothes.
