I Woke Up This Morning & What Do You Think I Did Today?

Ate, ate and ate!!!!!

In all my 4 years of being a mum, I have never ever seen 2 boys devour, or more suitable -inhale, a fridge and pantry full of food in one day. I never would have believed it was possible. Last week I jokeingly commented to my husband that one day soon the boys would wake up in the morning and eat all day to make up for the last month of not eating. Well today was that day. We started the day with a house full of food, and ended the day with an urgent need to go food shopping. The cupboards are empty.

The 2 boys and I spent the morning at home. I wrongly presumed that because both boys were collectively inhaling anything resembling food, that we wouldn't be going anywhere. However, Brandon was confident that if we went to the library, Bailey and himself would be sufficiently satisfied food wise to maintain activity. I packed what felt like a mobile extension of the fridge and pantry just to cover myself and their starving stomachs and we went to the library. I give the 2 boys credit. They played for some considerable time at the library before demanding food for their now empty stomachs. The 3 of us had a good time. It wasn't very busy but we still stayed for several hours.

The food consumption went up a notch once we returned home. I was making up endless sandwiches and plates upon plates of food. When my husband arrived home from work he was in disbelief at the food flying out of the kitchen straight into their mouths. Brandon was talking a hundred miles an hour throughout the whole day. He is so great at talking that he can eat nonstop without it interfering with his ability to talk nonstop. That in itself is an amazing form of entertainment for myself and my husband. I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching him do that. It is pure fascination.

I spent the afternoon at work which gave me a reprieve from having to constantly provide food to 2 children that were convinced they were starving if they didn't have food right then and there. I think that daddy went into overdrive with the food production and dinner was devoured. Their dinner plates were certainly clean. After being away from food for 20 minutes while we bathed the 2 boys, both Brandon and Bailey had to stock up on more food before bed. It's truly amazing that so much food can evidently disappear from their stomachs in such a short space of time. So both boys ate yogurt galore before bed. Thankfully the kids are asleep now and hopefully will stay the night as so. Meanwhile, I'm left to peruse the cupboard wondering what delicious dinner I can construct for myself with the few items of food remaining-marsh mellows, Vegemite, and Tiny Teddy biscuits. I'm looking forward to food shopping tomorrow.
