So Different, Yet So Similar.

Brandon and Bailey commonly get mistaken for twins. Now while that humours me endlessly, the 2 boys are very similar in many ways. Yes they do have similar facial features, but then they are also so very different. Bailey is very content and happy to play with his toys by himself while hurricane Brandon needs to be right smack bang in the very centre of all the action. If there is no action then he makes it. He is assertive and extremely confident and just believes if he asks people to do things then they will. They commonly do. He has one volume and that is loud where as Bailey can be a little more understanding of his environment and usually adopts the respective volume level. That 'usually' though is said loosely. One thing is common to both of them, and that is that they love each other. This morning both the boys were sitting together chatting to each other while exploring each other's faces. Strangely, they were doing it with such tenderness and intrigue. I sat back and watched just knowing full well that at some point soon their cuddles would turn into big wrestles. 2 minutes later they were wrestling and I had to eventually intervene.

My husband went food shopping this morning. He was keen for us all to go, but I just didn't feel like taking the 2 boys shopping. It's exhausting and it feels like the whole day is over by the time you get home. Instead, together the 2 boys and I did some chores around the house before then venturing outside to play and hang up more washing. When daddy arrived home we came back inside so as to say hello and put all the shopping away. I always feel like the Pied Piper because the kids just follow me everywhere I go.  The 2 boys and I cooked some banana muffins. Mind you, I don't really think that adding 2 small bananas to the recipe can justify them really being called banana muffins. At $15.00 a kilogram that was all that was going in.

For lunch I cut up a whole heap of  healthy ingredients, put them on a plate and let the 2 boys make their own sandwiches. It was so funny. It was a classic example of just how different the boy's personalities are. Bailey grabbed as much of the ingredients that he could possible fit in his small hands, shoved it on his sandwich, covered it in tomato sauce and mayonnaise, put the 2 pieces of bread together, smashed it and bashed the poor sandwich with his fists, got down off his chair, said "finished" and then walked away. Brandon made a sandwich up with just the right amount of ingredients for himself. He told me to cut all the crusts of it and then instructed me to cut it into 4 triangles. He sat there wriggling in his chair while eating the neatest most prim and proper sandwiches. Once he had eaten 2 of his sandwiches, he told me that he had"had enough" and that we should keep his leftovers in the fridge "for later."

The 2 boys and I went back outside and planted a Mango tree and a Valencia Orange tree. I am going to strive very hard to keep them alive so that they produce the most amazing fruit. Brandon and Bailey had a great time helping me water and dig and water and dig. They both love the water tank. I think that they are fascinated by it.

Both boys refused to eat any dinner tonight. Again I am not sure why but they flat out refused. I had even asked them what they would like to eat and once informed I went about cooking it. Needless to say that both boys were in the bath early, then dressed read to and in bed at quite an early time for them. Hopefully they will make it through the night without their tummies needing to be replenished. At night time I am guaranteed to see one striking similarity between the 2 boys- they talk and talk and talk just before bed. I can't wait to see when they are both older whether Brandon and Bailey maintain their current differences yet hold on to those wonderful similarities that they have. I look forward to it.
