What Was That I Heard?

When you listen really carefully it's so very amazing what you can hear.Take yesterday when Bailey and I were picking up Brandon from kindergarten. Both boys were being so incredibly loud in the car when suddenly Brandon went quiet, a very strange concept in itself! The next thing that I hear is Brandon telling Bailey to be quiet because he is getting a headsteak. A what? I retorted smiling to myself. Do you mean a headache?  Another example of listening quietly was when I asked Brandon to tidy up his art and craft this morning that he was constructing for Daddy for Father's Day. There was mess EVERYWHERE. I thought it was great that he was making a present but when black texta and paper and everything arty get everywhere it gets dangerous. As I asked him to tidy up, his response was "I'm too busy adding some detail. You must not distract me".

I listened carefully when both boys said that they wanted to go to the lolly shop. We did. In fact it was our only official outing for the day and the boys had had to have cleaned up their art and craft at home before we went. It was too nice a day to stay in a shopping centre so the 2 boys and I bounded back home. Straight away we all went outside. I made lunch up then the boys jumped on the trampoline intermittently while we all ate lunch on the deck. I also made quite literally thousands of phone calls to real estate agents about large blocks of land around the country with a house on it which we can renovate that also has a nice chunk of land attached which we can subdivide off and sell separately. I spoke to many a town planner today regarding the feasibility of such an endeavour. They are such fickle people.

The boys and I played outside then collected all the washing off the clothes line. The kids just love pegs. Taking washing off the line of late is the most fascinating experience, and that's just for me. The kids have pegs everywhere, they are laughing hysterically while the peg basket is flying everywhere. Once my husband arrived home from work, I went off to work. Brandon and Bailey were extremely great kids while I worked. I know they were very tired. Once I had finished work, I think I was the trigger for the utmost craziness of times to begin. Kids were doing nudie runs, and then Bailey decided to do a nudie cycle. He rode around and around on his bike in the complete nude. Any chance of him listening to anyone disappeared. He wasn't stopping for anyone.

Finally my husband and I had the boys bathed and dressed in their pyjamas and ready for bed. Bailey chucked a tantrum just though pure exhaustion, but I kept talking to him and singing nursery rhymes until eventually he calmed down. Works every time. I actually laid on Bailey's bedroom floor while I put him to sleep. I was too tired to walk out the door and I just thought that the pillow lying there on the ground looked so appealing. I had pretty much spent the whole night awake last night with Brandon with him having such a disturbed sleep. He wet his bed 3 times so I was constantly up changing him and thousands of sheets plus his growing pains returned. Needless to say, I'm somewhat tired now and that explains while Bailey's floor looked so appealing tonight. I knew that as soon as I laid down there, there was a very high chance I'd drift off to sleep. The next thing I remember was me thinking what was that I just heard? It was me snoring so loudly that I'd obviously woken myself up. It's truly amazing what you can hear when you're quiet.
