Another perfect day as the 2 boys and I went off on our adventure for the day. Our day's journey led us to the Medieval Fun Day for Kids out at the Abbey Museum near Bribie Island. It was a great day. The 2 boys and I went last year as well so I was a little more switched on as to the set up. I had booked tickets on line several weeks ago for the event today because I'd remembered from last year that everything had booked out almost instantly. This year I had the 2 boys booked in to do a Crown making class then a sword making activity and then lastly the mask making workshop. The 2 boys made it to the first 2 activities, but the mask making fell to the way side. That was attributed to Bailey and his constant tantrums/dummy spits. I realised today that he may be a little homebody. He just seems much happier at home. Brandon, however, needs to be right smack bang in the middle of all activity with everyone's attention solely on him and him only. I'm with Bailey. You enjoy the limelight Brandon.
Both boys had their face painted as soon as we walked through the gates. Bailey had a train painted on his cheek while Brandon had an Omnitrix from Ben 10 painted on his. Bailey's lasted maybe 3 seconds optimistically. Brandon's somewhat longer. Bailey's passion lies in painting. He absolutely loves it. He would have painted uninterrupted all day if we hadn't had to of moved to another activity. The boys jumped on the Blue jumping castle for awhile. I have to state that it was the blue jumping castle because both boys made reference to the fact that the blue one was for boys. When I said that both boys and girls could jump on either the pink castle or the blue one, Bailey piped up with "Pink. Yuck. Blur. Yuck". To him pink is yucky and only for girls. Which I find extremely fascinating because later in the day when we'd moved into the Kid's Camelot area, Bailey sat in a pink princess tent serving up food with a pink cup and saucer and a pink fork. Who knows.
The 2 boys and I also saw the most enormous Hawk that I have ever seen. We also saw hundreds of people dressed up as Knights, princesses, and princes. It was just phenomenal. There was archery for kids and jousting. There were camel rides and tile rubbing activities. There were knights in armour and jester school as well. I had 2 favourite parts of the day. My first one was when Brandon dressed up as a Knight and had his photo taken by a professional photographer. Stay tuned for that photo. Bailey started keen but then changed his mind and ran away. My second favourite part of the day was when both boys and myself sat down and ate Churros. It's a long donut stick covered in sugar. Delicious. It was even sweeter too because the boys sat still. We also had chocolate sauce.
No-one slept upon our return so we had 2 very tired boys for the evening. I worked while my husband manned the fort. Both boys were asleep fairly quickly which is good for them and good for us. Thanks for all the fun my little gentlemen.
