Last Day At The Holiday Cabin

We made the most of our last full day at our holiday destination. Tomorrow we are off to another regional town to check out a prospective property purchase. It was meant to be possibly raining today and the clouds pretty much confirmed this. However, the sunshine prevailed and the blue sky emerged and the heat hit us big time. It is such a very different heat here where we are at the moment. Were we normally reside is extremely humid which we appear to be accustomed to, unlike the dry hot heat.

Our day began heading off to the local jetty markets. They were pretty diverse. There appears to be a creative environment in the surrounding area. Certainly everyone is very skilled. We walked to the marina and to show Brandon what a jetty was. He was very curious and intrigued. We saw fish jumping out of the water while at the marina. The boys loved it all. They thought the flying fish were so very funny. From here we jumped into the car and just went for a drive to look around the area. It's always great to see the local architecture and design of people's houses. It's also great to see which streets all the big houses or renovated houses or houses with great views are in. Always very interesting.

The 2 boys, daddy and I then went to an art exhibition put on by a local artist. We had seen some of the artist's work in a local magazine while here on holiday and were very interested in seeing more and the corresponding price tag. We certainly weren't disappointed. We are now very inspired to save up for some of his original artwork. It is just beautiful. We walked around the resort where the exhibition was for awhile. It too was truly lovely. Now exceptionally hot, we headed home where Bailey actually had a sleep. Brandon had some quiet time for a little while while daddy rested on the lounge, I read for awhile and then went and did some washing.

Once everyone was fully functioning again we all went and had a swim in the pool. A great way to cool down. We walked our 5 metres back to our cabin, and then changed and went off for a walk to the beach. We again chased seagulls and played in rock pools, before then climbing about 50 steps set in the cliff face. Great views once at the top and certainly great exercise. While on the beach I ordered our pizzas for dinner so that we could then just walk past and pick up our dinner and head home. That's exactly what we did except we made a pit stop at the park. Dinner was delicious once we had walked home to our cabin. There's nothing like having to work for your dinner, or in our case- walk for our dinner. Before the boys had even swallowed the last of the mouth fulls of pizza the 2 boys and I were walking around the caravan park. Then on return to our cabin we collected daddy and the boys picked up some faster modes of transport- their bikes. And off we went again. We all did laps of the caravan park. Great exercise. I think I would have lost kilos and kilos of weight with all this walking if I hadn't eaten holiday chocolate and chips. Alas, we had a great time. We were all sweating upon our return to the cabin but we had great big smiles on our faces.

The kookaburras are laughing up in their trees as I sit on the deck here. The caravan park is alive with activity. I truly don't know how people go camping anymore. The amount of stuff we have seen people bring is phenomenal. It's not roughing it camping and caravaning anymore. I am blown away with the setups people have. Brandon fell asleep almost instantly while Bailey still maintains the struggle with having to go to sleep when it is brilliant daylight outside. After 6 years without living with needing to experience daylight savings, I can honestly say that I am not a fan anymore. Certainly not with children and certainly not with children that spend about 90% of their time outside. But our day was great. We have all had a fantastic time away, but we are looking forward to getting home to our humble abode.
